DriMark Products Inc. , a U.S.-based manufacturer of writing instruments, security marking systems, and patented inks with in-house injection molding, has signed exclusive distribution agreements with Beacon Promotions Inc. (New Ulm, MN) and Dezine Corp. (Mississauga, ON) for its promotional products in the U.S. and Canada. Beacon and Dezine assume complete decorating and imprinting services, distributing in the U.S. and Canada, respectively, allowing DriMark to focus on manufacturing. The company currently produces up to 2 million marker pens/day for the promotional products industry, working from a catalog of hundreds of SKUs.

DriMark manufactures more than 90% of its products from its 66,000-ft2 plant on the north shore of Long Island. Cathy Williams-Owen, president and CFO of DriMark, told PlasticsToday that the new agreements will help DriMark refocus. "Both alliances will allow DriMark to concentrate on our core competencies, molding and manufacturing," Williams-Owen said.

The company operates 13 injection molding machines ranging from 65 to 300 tons, with Toshiba and Van Dorn units in all-electric (four) and hydraulic (nine) formats. The production process is largely automated, as seen below in this 2005 episode of How It's Made, with DriMark running through approximately 500,000 lb/yr of polypropylene (PP). Williams-Owen said the company is currently looking to design new products to be molded from Port Washington.
